It took me, like, 7 years to decide on paint colors for our last apartment. Needless to say, I can be a little indecisive when it comes to home decorating. Problem is, I like so many design types. Girly, rocker, bohemian, country cottage… I can’t make up my mind!
We sold quite a bit of stuff when we moved to Hawaii, so in many ways our new apartment felt like a clean slate. Exciting? No! Clean slates mean choices and decisions, oh my! Needless to say, I was thrilled at the opportunity to partner with Havenly. Havenly is an online interior design service that ranges from $79 (for a small room refresh) to $199 (for a complete design experience per room). Why is it so affordable, you might ask? Well, it’s all done virtually.
Sometimes working with teams virtually can be a hassle. Not Havenly. The site provides a detailed style test to help pinpoint your style (or in my case, styles). From there, you can browse through the profiles of Havenly’s style experts (think: Tinder for interior designers). Once you’ve chosen your favorite designer, you’re connected and the relationship commences! We worked with a gal named Sarah who couldn’t have been more kind, thoughtful and patient with us. We had a few hiccups along the way including indecisiveness (who, me?!), our dream rug selling out before we could snag it, on top of the fact that not all retailers ship to Hawaii so several items actually couldn’t be shipped here. Despite all those challenges, Sarah went above and beyond to make sure she was helping us create the living room of our dreams.
One of the things I loved about Havenly is that the design process is done in stages. This isn’t a one-concept-delivered-and-done service. Havenly designers have a specific series of steps – a method to the madness, if you will – and are happy to go back and forth on iterations before the final design is rendered. It’s all incredibly visual fitted to your exact room specifications, which I really appreciated.
So, enough of the small talk.
